This site rearranges the figures on international visitors’ guest nights that the Japan Tourism Agency publishes every month, so they are easier to read prefecture by prefecture. It is not run by the Japan Tourism Agency or the Japanese government.

This site was created by Wherefrom, which edited and processed the results of the survey above. It was not created by the Japan Tourism Agency, and the Agency does not guarantee its content.

The site covers January 2026 through July 2026. The data was last updated on October 12, 2026.

What we changed from the published data

The numbers themselves are unchanged. We made the following 6 changes.

1. From the published results, we take only one table: guest nights by international visitors, by facility location and nationality (place of origin) (Reference Table 1). Other tables are not shown.
2. We split the single table into one page per prefecture. Rows that group prefectures by regional transport bureau are not shown.
3. Nationalities (places of origin) run across the source table; we list them vertically. The order is the same as in the source.
4. We added thousands separators to the numbers. The ＊ marks are those in the source table.
5. The source is in Japanese only. Names of prefectures and nationalities, table headings, and notes in other languages are translations by this site, not by the Japan Tourism Agency.
6. On the home page, prefectures are listed in order of guest nights in the latest month, and on the Japan total and prefecture pages, nationalities are listed in order of guest nights. This order is this site’s rearrangement; you can switch back to the published order (prefecture code order, or the source’s column order). “Other” always stays at the end, and values marked ＊ are sorted by their published value.

We do not show figures calculated by this site, such as shares or comparisons with the previous month or year. When lists are sorted, positions are not numbered.

What is not shown

• Figures up to 2025. From the January 2026 survey the way facilities are classified changed, so the basis differs. They are available on the Japan Tourism Agency page.
• First preliminary figures and annual final figures. Only the monthly second preliminary figures are shown.
• Tables by municipality, by type of accommodation, and so on.
